International Women’s Day Concert
Women of Noise presents the third annual International Women’s Day Concert featuring the talented students, staff and alumni of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Griffith University.
The concert celebrates the continued and past contributions of women in music and presents some of their creative outputs. This year, we’ll be celebrating International Women’s Day with two back-to-back events: a ‘prelude’ performance in the foyer followed by an impressive one-hour concert held in the Ian Hanger Recital Hall. Both concerts will not only feature music and performances from current QCGU students, staff and alumni but from composers all over the world. Audiences will be treated to a World premiere by Hilary Kleinig (Adelaide), an Australian premiere by Sophia Jani (Germany) and Brisbane premieres by Elizabeth Jigalin (Sydney), Alice Chance (Sydney). Audiences will also get to hear brilliant works by Christina Bowden (Brisbane), Yoko Ono (Japan), Alys Rayner (Brisbane), Ruth Crawford Seeger (USA) and performances by Ensemble in residence ‘Clocked Out’ with Hilary Kleinig, Brisbane-based ‘Concept Ensemble’ and all-female Jazz cover band ‘Lady Lilac’.
Admission to the concert is FREE and we will be collecting donations for the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation at the door. We invite you to join us in supporting this wonderful initiative and in celebrating International Women’s Day through an exciting afternoon of music making. https://womenofnoise.com/
